Enjoying a Simple Applesauce Coffee Cake Recipe



When you are looking for a simple applesauce coffee cake recipe it is usually because you have friends or family coming for a visit or you want to bring a nice, tasty treat on a visit of your own. Unfortunately, many of the most popular recipes require a lot of preparation which can make them unappealing to the baker.

The following recipe is almost too easy to be believed, and you’ll be able to take all of the credit for making a delicious, moist and flavorful cake that really only has five ingredients! The trouble might come when all of your friends and neighbors start asking for your applesauce coffee cake recipe.

This is a fairly flexible sort of recipe and the yellow cake mix can be easily substituted with a cinnamon or spice cake, which would mean that the additional cinnamon would need to be deleted from the ingredients. Additionally, there are many flavored applesauce products on the market as well, and stirring in a raspberry applesauce or a cinnamon applesauce, or even a handful of pre-soaked raisins would work well with this recipe.

Applesauce Coffee Cake

Serves 8

2 tsp. cinnamon

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 box yellow cake mix

1 ⅔ cups applesauce

3 eggs

Preheat oven to 325˚. Grease and flour Bundt pan and set aside.

Combine cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle 1 tablespoon over the bottom of the greased pan. Set the remainder of the mixture aside.

In mixer bowl, combine the cake mix, applesauce and eggs until moistened and then beat 2 minutes at high speed.

Set aside 2 cups of the batter, and pour the remainder into the pan.

Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon and sugar over this, and top with remaining batter.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.

Cool completely before serving.
