A Summertime Thai Coffee Recipe



The gorgeous flavors and aromas of traditional Thai cuisine, as well as a Thai coffee recipe, is one to remember. The fragrance of cardamom and coriander are an ideal companion to a strong and dark cup of coffee. For the summer months, the following coffee recipe is the ideal answer for anyone looking for a dreamy, cold beverage that provides the perfect “pick me up” for a warm afternoon.

It is important to note that with this coffee recipe and in fact almost any coffee recipe at all, using fresh whole coffee beans that are finely ground just before brewing is the surest way to attain the best results. If this is not possible, try to always keep ground coffee in the most tightly sealed container available. This prevents the acids from deteriorating and preserves the excellent quality and flavor of the coffee.

A Summertime Thai Coffee Recipe:

Serves 4

1 ½ cups finely ground dark coffee

1 tsp. of ground coriander seeds

18 whole green cardamom pods

4 tsp. of sugar

Cream

Ice

1. Grind the coffee beans to the finest setting possible. Next grind the cardamom pods with the finest setting as well.

2. Place the ground coffee and cardamom and coriander directly into your coffee makers filter area. Brew the coffee on a strong setting (if available) this means choosing the four cup setting and adding the appropriate amount of water. Once the pot has completed the brewing process, leave it on the machine and allow the pot to cool completely.

3. Place one teaspoon of sugar and a splash of the coffee in the bottom of four iced tea or tall beverage glasses. Then add the ice and fill with the remaining coffee divided evenly between the glasses. Finally, pour a splash of cream into each cup of iced coffee and serve immediately.
