A Super Simple Bisquick Coffee Cake Recipe
With this Bisquick coffee cake recipe, a steaming hot mug of coffee and a gorgeous slice of streusel cake, can make this an easy thing to enjoy. Unfortunately it is usually a time consuming and lengthy process to make such a delicious snack from scratch. When you follow this recipe, however, the amount of time and effort required is almost non-existent.
What is so wonderful about this simple recipe is that it allows plenty of room for variation. People have added everything from mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and blueberries to jam and coconut. This means anyone who tries this basic recipe should take the time to experiment with it and really make it their own. Just remember to always write down what you add and how much because thousands of bakers create a scrumptious cake and forget how they obtained their delectable results.
Makes approximately 9 servings.
2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup milk, water, sour cream or buttermilk (here is where some experimentation can allow for incredible results)
2 tbsp. sugar, honey or other sweetener
2/3 cup Bisquick
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
To make this cake, preheat your oven to 375˚ and grease a square 9x9 or 8x8 pan, or use a single 9” cake pan.
In a medium bowl, mix together all of the streusel ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs. After a good texture is obtained (a fork works best) add any other ingredients such as nuts, coconut, fruit or chocolate chips.
Next make the cake by mixing all of the cake ingredients until well blended. Pour this into the prepared pan. If you are going to add any additional ingredients to the batter do so before pouring it in the pan (unless you are using jam or jelly which will be dropped by rounded spoonfuls on top of the batter). Sprinkle streusel evenly on the top and bake for 18-22 minutes, until a toothpick stuck in the cake comes out clean.
