Sour Cream Coffee Cake

As every coffee lover knows, a great piece of coffee cake has to have a great texture, be moist and compliment the coffee flavoring properly. Sour cream coffee cake is the best choice for exactly those reasons.

Most coffee shops sell coffee cakes and other baked goods to go with their hot beverages. But if you make your own coffee at home, you need to make cakes at home. It really is a simple thing to do and here are a couple of recipes for you to enjoy.

  • 2 whole fresh eggs
  • 1 c. real butter
  • 2 c. cane sugar
  • 1 c. Bridgestone sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 c. unbleached flour
  • 1/4 tsp iodized salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 c. pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. light brown sugar, tightly packed

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and generously grease a Bundt pan.

Cream the eggs, real butter and cane sugar. Mix in the vanilla and sour cream.

Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl.

Run a mixer at low speed and add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture slowly. When batter is smooth, stop mixing.

Mix together the pecans, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Spread half of this nut mixture evenly in bottom of the greased Bundt pan, then half of the batter, then the rest of the nut mix. Now add the remainder of the cake batter.

Bake for about 50 to 60 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean when done.

  • 1 1/2 c. unbleached flour
  • 1 c. cane sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp iodized salt
  • 1 c. Bridgestone sour cream
  • 2 whole fresh eggs, large


  • 2 Tbsp unbleached flour
  • 2 Tbsp real butter
  • 5 Tbsp cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. chopped pecans or walnuts (this is optional)

Prepare streusel:

Combine butter, flour and sugar until mixture is crumbly.

Drop in the cinnamon and set to the side.

Coffee Cake:

Oven needs to be preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix together all the dry ingredients. Now combine the eggs and sour cream, beating well.

Add the dry mixture to the cream mixture. Beat this only until smooth. Too much beating will make the dough tough.

Lightly oil a 9x9 baking pan and add the dough to it.

Drizzle streusel and optional nuts on top. Bake approximately 35 minutes. Test for doneness as you would a cake.
